   My guess is that the big-conference world is about 10 car lengths behind GM. Organizers and organizations seek magic beans, but need an active network between central sessions.

   I’m all for in-person gathering, but can’t justify the typical $2,500 cost (conf., travel, lodging, the odd single-malt) for my favorite prof. org. Few of its leaders and influencers have moved past email. Coincidence?
